We are very glad to inform you all that JASIST, peer reviewed international journal has accepted and published an research article entitled “Do open-access journals in library and information science have any scholarly impact? A bibliometric study of selected open-access journals using Google Scholar” authored by Dr. Bhaskar Mukherjee, Assistant Professor of the Department. The article can be had from JASIST Volume 60, Issue 3, Pages 581-594. The article was sent on February, 2008 and accepted for publication on October, 2008. Successful Completion of National Seminar on OSLS - 2009

Dear All,

National Seminar on Open Source Library Solutions (OSLS - 2009), jointly organised by Department of Library & Information Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi was successfully held at Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Hall, Faculty of Arts, BHU, Varanasi on January 16-17, 2009. The inaugural function of the National Seminar was chaired by Prof. B. D. Singh, Rector, Banaras Hindu University as the Chief Guest, Sri L. M. P. Singh, Former University Librarian, BHU as the President, Prof. A. R. D. Prasad, DRTC as Guest of Honour, Prof. S. N. Pandey, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. H. N. Prasad, Head of the Department, Library & Information Science, BHU as Coordinator of National Seminar, Dr. Aditya Tripathi, Organizing Secretary of National Seminar. Participants from nook and corner of India and invited guests of university were also present in the function. Dr. Rajani Mishra has anchored the programme. Total 5 technical sessions were conducted in the 2 day National Seminar.

The valedictory function of National Seminar was chaired by Prof. S. N. Upadhyaya, Director, IT-BHU as Chief Guest, Prof. Kamal Sheel, Acting Dean, Faculty of Arts, BHU as President, Prof. A. R. D. Prasad, DRTC as Guest of Honour, Prof. H. N. Prasad, Head as Seminar Coordinator, Dr. Aditya Tripathi, Organising Secretary, OSLS–09, Dr. Bhaskar Mukherjee, Rapporteur of the Seminar. Dr. Bhaskar Mukherjee has presented the Seminar report. Dr. Aditya Tripathi has given vote of thanks. Dr. Rajani Mishra has anchored the programme. Research Scholars and Students of M. Lib. & Inf. Sc. have given their great contribution to make the function successful. A leading automation company VINAYAK SOLUTIONS and Shagun Tent House has also supported the programme.
